Do not waste your time and money.
5 years ago, I tried to build my own. Was increased from $ 100 and lose a weekend and ended with a field that seems lame from a class of carpentry school.
Now I know better ... Check eBay or go to the flea market a few - there is always someone to get rid of these things - cheap. Throw in some enamel or paint primer for metal and a little hard work and finally they go with a decent tool kit. Plus you'll be glad that you are not trying to build, one on!
